There are a myriad of One Piece games for mobile right now, and I wanted to try out yet another one. However, this one does not have a global version, so I just based it on gameplay alone, so no story review here folks.
TapTap
Let's start off with the elephant in the room, and that is the fact that this game does not have an English version yet. It's still only in Chinese, so non-Chinese-speaking players would have to bear with some guesswork as to which menu option is which most of the time, or have no idea what characters are talking about.

As for the gameplay, it's a brawler. Players fight enemies, as well as explore the Open World of One Piece with their ships. Controls are simple to understand, and not speaking Chinese is not a hindrance to understanding them. In fact, it's better to play the tutorial so players can truly understand the controls.
The attack visuals look fluid and dynamic, while the special attacks look especially cool. Overall, the visuals are pretty stunning, and truly brings Eiichiro Oda's world to life. The Open World part also looks very nice visually too! In fact, this might just be one of the most beautiful mobile games based on an anime out there.

As for gathering crewmates to fight for you, you can "recruit" them via a gacha system. The higher the rarity, the stronger the characters. I have not been playing the game long, but I already landed a rather rare Zoro, so the gacha system ain't really that punishing. The game also has a PVP arena, though I cannot say much about it as I only played it once and got my butt kicked.
The Good:
Dynamic gameplay with an open world. And it's One Piece! The graphics are well-made, and the controls are easy to understand.
The Bad:
It's in Chinese. I could not fully appreciate the game as I do not understand half of what is happening. Honestly, this could be a 5-star game if I could understand what is going on.
Final Verdict:
That being said, the language itself is not a barrier to enjoying the game, if you base it on gameplay alone. It's a beautiful and enjoyable game in of itself.
