So, how is the game? Here are our thoughts.
Persona 5: The Phantom X offers a unique "Japanese student experience + fantasy adventure" gameplay loop, and it really captures the feeling of being a high school student in Japan. It's worth mentioning that this series of natural daily interactions not only to some extent portrays the tough yet not boring student life but also allows us to gradually master most of the gameplay.
The UI has been improved, making the previously cluttered interface much more streamlined, and the game has simplified various aspects of daily life, making it easier for players to engage with the game.
The combat system is dynamic, with a satisfying level of depth, and the game is full of well-designed maps and puzzles, making exploration a fun and engaging experience.
Character development is a bit complicated. It is divided into three parts: character strengthening, mask strengthening, and weapon strengthening. The protagonist also has a special "inspiration value."
The protagonist's level can be increased through completing dungeons and main missions, while inspiration points are obtained by collecting the primary combat item "masks," which can enhance the protagonist's basic attributes. The levels of secondary characters are tied to the masks as well.
The storyline of P5X is the biggest issue during our experience. It's not that the plot is bad, but it's just too long. It took us almost an hour before encountered the second teammate. We had already played for over four hours and had not yet completed the first palace. The game's storyline was not balanced between being lightweight and having depth, making it uncertain during testing.
Overall, Persona 5: The Phantom X is a game with clear strengths and weaknesses. It has high completion quality, great artwork, and satisfying combat and daily life features, but its pacing and character development need refinement. The purpose of testing is to identify areas for improvement and to continuously add more content until the official release, which has the potential to make the game even more fulfilling.
ngl the game looks amazing already. I'm just worried about the gacha part and the grind wall >.<
