As somebody who is relatively new to the scene, I'm curious about various negative events that have happened in the past along with their consequences.
Just a quick outline and the lessons learned by both developers/players would be helpful. Mainly because studying history helps you prepare for the future.
I only know of really famous ones such as Hi3 bunny girl fiasco, PGR $1 or more recently Azur Promilia playable girls only.

Those who play HI3 would notice that you can touch older Characters on certain place and got interesting reaction from them but not on the newer characters. If my memories correct that is started because someone reported the game to the Chinese Government because he was angry at Mihoyo for giving free character summer skin to all players after he spent his money buying a skin for that character. What makes this really stupid is the skin that he bought and the skin that was given are two different skin for the same character and the skin he bought is far better than the free skin. From this onward Mihoyo started to reduce the fans service for HI3, and the guy that reported it gain the ire of HI3 player then got docked and bullied off the internet.

Some older event that i can remember that has not been covered yet is... The conference talk with E7 devs and some top players in KR. The balancing is atrocious back then, and i think they nerfed a moonlight characters ( a group of even more rarer characters), which basically cause such a huge shitshow that they try to talk it out with the conference. Maybe i will try digging post from back then so people can see what's happened
