SHOULD I PLAY PLANTS VS. ZOMBIES 3? If you’re a fan of either of the previous mainline Plants vs. Zombies game, it’s worth giving this one a try. Plants vs. Zombies 3 isn’t revolutionary, and it’s certainly not the masterpiece that the original game was, but it provides great, bite-sized doses of strategic undead-slaying fun. It is a 2D point and click adventure set in France, specifically in the undergrounds of Paris in the 1960s; it is inspired by Belgian comics and heist films of the 1960s. The protagonists are two thieves, Monique and an enigmatic prisoner, who ended up in prison for a robbery gone wrong. The prisoner reveals to Monique about a precious diamond, stored in a secret underground safe in the heart of Paris. They plan to escape from prison and at the same time steal the diamond together, and this leads our heroes on a quest through a Catholic monastery, a Parisian metro station and the Catacombs, it should be a simple job but things get complicated due to the various obstacles and puzzles to solve. The challenges go from easy at the beginning of the adventure, to difficult at the climax, and then back to easy at the epilogue. This circular progression shows Monique maturing as she practices her skills and cultivates her inner confidence.

It has some Portal-style reminiscences, since in the intro we will wake up in a place unknown to us: Our nightmares! In this nightmare we will be a guinea pig who will have to solve a series of puzzles using optical illusions, that is, holding an object and moving back it will increase in size to activate gears, reach doors that are too high and/or activate hidden switches. As we delve deeper into our nightmares, the puzzles will increase our state of anguish since they will become more and more complex, here we will have to challenge logic and creativity. In a flexible illusory way our brain will start to send you signals through perspectives and physical principles to advance in this fantasy world. Each puzzle is a challenge and an improvement for our thinking, allowing us to experience an unprecedented sense of accomplishment in the process of solving the puzzles.

Charming story and characters, great music and extremely likeable protag. Surprising amount of depth and intrigue to the story in a short amount of time. All of the puzzles make sense and aren't overly frustrating. Extremely enjoyable! I've only stopped playing because of a bug in the motorcycle section (which comes very soon after the paywall word of warning, idk if this bug only effects me but still) and it was a shame because i was really immersed in the story, but beforehand I had a good few hours of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing the full game be released!!
