PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Skip this one if you’re looking for a traditional RPG, but play it if you’re in the market for a fascinating new daily puzzle game. Desktop Dungeons: Rewind isn’t a sequel to the original Desktop Dungeons so much as it is a spiffy new presentation. The 2D tile graphics have been replaced with 3D models and environments, while the gameplay itself is relatively untouched: Players must plan a route through a procedurally generated dungeon in such a way that their character will be strong enough to defeat the boss using weapons, spells, and a variety of dirty little tricks.

Defense Derby has just launched it's early access in select countries. The gameplay consists of tower defense but specializes in fun PVP. The PVP game mode puts 4 players against each other with a exciting twist. Aside from the typical idea of just putting heroes on a map to defend a lane, the PVP features a currency system called derby coins. Before the round begins all players will see a random character card shown. The players will then wager any amount they desire to try and win that character card. The highest bigger wins the character and can deploy them to protect their castle. You never know how much your opponents are wagering until the end. The strategy involved makes the PVP mode loads of fun and adds way more depth to the game.

SHOULD I PLAY SILENT HOPE? Definitely give this one a chance if you’re looking for a surprisingly relaxing, grindy dungeon-crawler, but maybe skip it if you mainly go to RPGs for the story. Silent Hope goes back to the absolute basics of the Japanese RPG formula, with a crew of seven mute heroes, each representing a different class, journeying into a multi-level abyss to save a fallen kingdom. By sticking to the fundamentals, the game is able to focus on making the characters and world charming as hell and the core gameplay streamlined and solid.

Bramble: The Mountain King is a very atmospheric adventure game with some platforming, puzzle and action elements here and there set in a grim fantasy world inspired by Nordic folklore. You play as Olle, a young boy who embarks on a great, but dangerous adventure through the beautiful and sometimes unsettling environments of this world to rescue his sister from the clutches of fairytale monsters. It's really about the journey in this game, all the different scenarios you come across are very memorable, but sometimes really unsettling and scary. Eventhough I didn't like all the chapters equally, because some were more like horror scenarios than fantasy scenarios, I was never bored and I was captivated by this game the whole way through.

Like Super Mario RPG, Born of Bread's combat system is technically turn-based, but different moves allow players to do extra damage by completing timing-based challenges. So it requires a little more attention than the average turn-based RPG, where you might just tap "attack" over and over.

SHOULD I PLAY MON-YU? Let me start with a warning: despite the intriguing name and the cutesy character art, Mon-Yu is a hardcore dungeon crawler, something along the same lines as the Etrian Odyssey series. I know I’m not alone in loving that stuff, but I also know it’s not for everyone. This game is an open world action adventure game, the story and music are really good and the storytelling style is similar to Max Payne (a bit). Other than that, the game is not bad at all in terms of variety, but the open world of the game feels very empty and the missions always repeat themselves after a while. I think these should be fixed because the game is very good other than these.
