SHOULD I PLAY STAR SURVIVOR? Buddy, did you read that headline? Star Survivor brings together the aesthetics and general sci-fi vibe of FTL, one of the best roguelikes ever made, and Vampire Survivors, one of the biggest indie hits of the past few years. Yes, you should play Star Survivor. Just be prepared to lose a lot of free time to this one. TIME PLAYED It’s hard to even estimate how many hours I’ve lost in this game so far. Maybe ten? Maybe twenty? Time seems to just slip away when I start it up. I can say that I’ve had multiple successful runs through the campaign mode, have unlocked and powered up quite a few cards, and have tested out all four ship types that are currently available. I’m already eagerly awaiting the endless mode, which is not yet in the game.

Roto Force is controller- (or phone-)clenching shooter where I played as a tiny lil guy who could shift to the left or right on circular stages. As he moved, the entire perspective shifted along with him, so it almost looked more like I was moving the stage than my character. I've said this before, but Romancing SaGa Re;univerSe is one hell of a generous game! Right now, the game is celebrating its 3rd anniversary starting today, June 1st, and they're giving out rewards like there's no tomorrow! PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Wow, this is way harder to answer than it usually is. I would say skip Garten of Banban 3 if you’re looking for what might traditionally be called a “good” game. But on the other hand, if you’re looking for something almost inexplicably weird—like just so strange that you almost can’t help but enjoy it—then it might just be worth playing. As someone who grew up loving football having the ability to create my own team and lead them to victory was something that I always enjoyed. Having been a competitive Madden player for a short stint I found myself wishing that they would do more with the franchise mode. Thankfully, several years later, I found this game. It doesnt have the high end buget that the madden series does but boy does it have heart. Having some advanced concepts like contract restructuring franchise tagging, and prorating is something that I did not expect to find in such a simple looking game. There is something left to be desired in terms of UI for switching between current roster and bargaining chips while in draft and the trading block but the game does so well in other departments that I am willing to overlook these concerns. I would highly recommend you check it out if you are a fan of football or if you like simulations. The developer recently released the 3rd edition of  the game but I have not had the luxury of playing it (do be on the lookout as I definitely will).

Cassette Beasts (Reviewed) Developer: Bytten Studio Publisher: Raw Fury Released: Apr 26, 2023 Price: $20 USD Cassette Beasts is what I would call an excellent attempt at resurrecting a monotonous and linear game like the Pokémon series, combined with an absolute banger soundtrack and reminiscent elements of relationship and bonding amongst the friends you meet, comparable to the Persona series. The game features a wonderful pixel graphic aesthetic that will be familiar to anyone who has played any Pokémon game in recent years. While it is similar, it is sufficiently distinct in its own style and charm to avoid being a "knockoff."

It makes me feel like Samurai Jack. This is the best complement I can give this game, and it's probably the best compliment I could give any game! The core gameplay is fun and tactical, combining turn-based strategy with procedural generation in a way that's not too overbearing, but just right in terms of constant fun. If you survive long enough in a run, you'll be rewarded with 1 out of 3 possible upgrades; but these upgrades will be different everytime, and can give you some very powerful upgrades.

Prime of Flames blends the addictive randomness of roguelikes with the tactical gameplay of strategy RPGs, resulting in a game that’s hard to put down. Set in an apocalyptic world, Prime of Flames asked me to guide clans to a new homeland. There were monsters and other challenges along the way, but there were also merchants, artifacts, and other powerful upgrades, so my units always ended runs stronger than they started.
