I’m the solo dev of a small cat lane strategy game called Claws of Power, and I just added three new items to mess around with: Midas Touch – when you use it, all enemies on the field get a golden mark. Any marked enemy that dies drops double coins, so if you press it at the right moment, one wave can turn into a big money spike. Extra Fish – turns your current dried-fish amount into about 1.3×. The longer you hold before using it, the more you gain (there’s a cap so it doesn’t go completely crazy). It’s made for “save up, then explode” styles. Clockwork Mouse – sends a few wind-up mice running across the battlefield, pulling enemy aggro and shaving a bit of HP off the enemy base. If you drop it at a good timing, it can really buy you a few extra seconds. I’m still tweaking the numbers and cooldowns, so if you have ideas for other weird-but-useful items, I’d love to hear them. I’m working on a little cat lane strategy game called Claws of Power, and recently I finished a new unit I’m pretty happy with: the samurai cat Akagoro. He costs 7 dried fish, so most of the time he’s just standing in the hand looking lazy with his straw hat on while you save up. The idea is that he’s one of those “okay, now it’s worth spending everything” kind of units. His first attack is the fun part: he pauses for a moment, then flash-dashes forward and does a quick iai-style slash. That opening hit usually closes the gap and deletes one target in one go. After that he settles into a more normal melee rhythm, but that first cut is meant to feel like a classic single clean samurai strike. One gif I recorded is just a simple 1v1 test, the other is Akagoro in an actual stage after you unlock him, so you can see how he behaves in a real wave. I’m working on a small cat lane strategy game called Claws of Power, and lately I’ve been testing this new unit: Chef Cat. He’s not really a fighter by design – tall chef hat, white coat, frying pan in hand. As long as he doesn’t have to hit anyone, he’ll just stand there and “cook” fresh dried fish on the battlefield, slowly boosting your income over time. The fun (and kind of dumb) part is stacking him: more chefs → more fish → more cats → even more chefs… At some point it really feels like you dragged the entire kitchen onto the lane. Of course, if your frontline collapses, the whole kitchen evaporates in two seconds, so it’s a very greedy way to play. Hi, I’m the solo dev of a small cat lane-strategy game called Claws of Power, and lately I’ve been playing around with a new frontliner: the ogre cat Nuba. In battle he does two things at once: he soaks damage on the frontline and still hits pretty hard. His normal swings have a chance to stun whatever he’s hitting, so fights around him always look a bit chaotic. And if an enemy’s HP drops low enough, he lets out an “awoo” and just bites them out of existence, healing himself in the process. That execute has a cooldown, but whenever it triggers it feels very satisfying. The GIFs I’m posting are from my latest test build.
