it’s been a wild ride since I started writing for TapTap. Since then, I was trapped in a major city-wide shutdown, moved back to the United States with a cat, started graduate school, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, have reviewed over forty titles with TapTap. Admittedly, I never would’ve thought to play some of these games on my own. And some of these games have been gems I’ve kept on my phone and play regularly. SHOULD I PLAY PESTICIDE NOT REQUIRED? Absolutely yes. Pesticide Not Required has everything I could ever want in a Vampire Survivors clone: smooth bullet heaven gameplay, over-the-top power-ups, frogs, farming mechanics, and even a pet capybara to help me care for my plants. I’ve only played the demo, but I’m already head over heels in love with Pesticide Not Required. Unless you totally hate roguelites—or frogs—this is a must play.

PLAY IT OR SKIP IT? Play it if you’re a fan of farming games. Everdream Valley has modern 3D graphics, but it feels like it could be a hidden prequel to Stardew Valley or Harvest Moon. Instead of running your own farm, you play as a kid spending their summer vacation with their grandparents. Your grandparents aren’t in the best of health, and their farm has definitely seen better days. If you’re up to the challenge, there are crops to water, animals to care for, and locations to explore. The game is cute and cozy, but it’s also filled with things to do, so if you’ve got the farming bug, it should keep you busy for quite a while.
