A Beautiful but Familiar Hack-and-Slash - Phantom Blade: Executioners First Impressions

Soulgame’s Phantom Blade: Executioners is a title that’s in closed beta from August 18 to September 16. It’s described as a “kungfupunk” action-RPG, and this second beta test offers a new chapter, refundable microtransactions, two advanced career paths for The Chord character, and more. Phantom Blade’s gorgeous visuals are amplified by its use of Chinese artwork and its steampunk (or kungfupunk...?) vibe. Both of these elements fit in well with the game’s rather intriguing narrative—a dark tale of illicit magic and body modification where people choose power over their own well-being. As the story unfolded, I discovered the hidden truths behind the Sha-Chi Mod and encountered a bevy of curious characters. During this beta I also experienced a new story chapter titled “A Failure’s Redemption,” while familiarizing myself with The Chord character who plays a pipa (a Chinese lute) and also uses it as a weapon. She also has two advanced career paths and seems to be a game-changer because of how she approaches things on the battlefield with her largely ranged attacks.

Phantom Blade: Executioners will have a main storyline update with new scenes and outfits implemented, and a Spring Festival event about Chinese dragon year going live on February 1, 2024. This update provide two new chapters: Chapter 7 and Chapter 8, which may includes new scenes, new enemies and new bosses. New chapters will also provide two special Chinese equipment suits. As the two chapters unfolded, multiple side stories will be added to the game. New multiplayer level , 3 new skills and killer combos, Chinese New Year skins of heroes are featured in the new version as well.

A Very DIFFICULT Game - Phantom Blade Executioner Beta (Mobile/PC)

I thought Phantom Blade Executioner is just another side-scrolling game. but turns out it is a very challenging game. It offers a lot about dodging. Attacking and simple mistakes can really just kill your run progression. I really love it as it reminds me of old games like Onimusha and a little vibe from Demon Slayers. The Gacha system is about summoning phantom that will aid you in battle. The Side quest in this game tells you to re-visit old places to trigger some sort of event.
