Check and Slash combines the action and combat of a hack and slash game with the movement patterns of chess pieces. Find your way through a maze of boards, slash your enemies, dodge attacks, rescue black pieces to receive upgrades and fight against formidable opponents until you find the enemy king.

GAMEPLAY
Rhythm:
Real-time action, not turn-based.
Movement:
Character movement patterns follow the rules of chess.
Enemies attack:
Prevent the king from going into check, or enemies will fire projectiles in your direction.
Avoid attacking shielded enemies, or they will fire projectiles in your direction.
Enemies defense:
Enemies receive a shield that makes them invulnerable when positioned in squares under the influence of another enemy.
Player attack:
Slash enemies with your sword until you destroy them.
The sword has a combo of 3 attacks, where the third attack is stronger than the previous 2.
For each enemy defeated, the sword receives a small bonus that is cumulative, making the attack progressively stronger.
Aiming is automatic and will focus on the closest enemy (or the last one hit).
Player attack limitations:
You start the game with 3 attack charges, which means you can make up to 3 attacks without moving, and to recharge 1 attack you need to move 1 square in any direction (keep moving and you won't have any problems).
Environment:
A maze of rooms (chessboards) connected by corridors.
The path through the maze is generated randomly at each start of the game.
In each room you must defeat all enemies to open the door to the next room.
With each new room, the combination of enemies changes and becomes more difficult than in the previous room.
Minimap:
Interface feature that helps the player visualize the path already taken in the maze.
Bosses:
There are a few bosses scattered throughout the maze, and they are powerful enemies with unique mechanics. Face them carefully.
Goals:
The main objective is to reach the end of the maze and find the enemy king (final boss).
The secondary (optional) objective is to find all allies trapped in the maze.
Each ally found will grant you 1 upgrade, which can be an increase in maximum health or an increase in the maximum number of attacks without moving.
Health maintenance:
There is a chance that defeated enemies will drop items that restore the player's health.
Death:
When defeated by an enemy, the player loses the sword's attack bonus and returns to the beginning of the maze.
The path is changed randomly again and defeated enemies reappear.
Doors that were previously opened will remain open (which means the player can ignore enemies and run through).
The attack bonus lost at the time of death can be recovered (if the player finds and defeats the enemy with this bonus).
