The state of Zeichland declares war and starts fighting against the whole world. This is a terrible and uncomplicated situation for all mankind, but not for mercenaries, who see it only as an opportunity to earn money. The story is told on behalf of a mysterious mercenary from Big Earth, who arrived in Lower Zeich and settled in the newly opened branch of the Lanor Guild.
