Reverse: 1999 is my favorite gacha game of all time. The art is beautiful, the turn-based card combat is just my thing, and the voice acting is so well done. The best part of the game? The story. It is so well written, and a real treat for people like me who read philosophy. I love seeing all the references, and philosophy helps me understand the story at a deeper level too. Even if you don't like turn-based, please give Reverse: 1999 a try. It is a phenomenal game.

EDITED: 4/22/2025 - Game is breathtaking, but..

UPDATED: 4/22/2025 It’s been two weeks since I last played this game, and I’ve run into some problems. I’m not sure if it’s always been like this, but the event “Last Evenings on Earth” is a real pain for a new player. - The dungeons aren’t necessarily difficult, but they’re massive stat checks. - The rewards are way too expensive. I tried using all my refills just to catch up, but now I’m left with nothing for the event dungeon. And like I’ve mentioned before, upgrading units is still too expensive. I played this game blind and had no idea about the meta whatsoever. So if you're a new player and you’ve got the time and patience to reroll, I say go for it. Aim for the current top-tier unit and use the tier list as a guide. Or, if you have the means. Go use the power of money. Probably less headache that way.

Personally, very overrated game. It isn't bad, but it was far off from my expectation. It has nice graphics with soundtracks that's jazzy, and also quite f2p in some way. Though it does have nice character design, it kind of feels too generic in a way. It is beautifully done, but there isn't anything fresh with the design. I know story is set to early 20th century in most part and designs are bound to be limited, but still, it felt too generic.

The character design is so dope and the stories are well written. Some side stories like anecdotes and events is so sad but its beautifully written.
