Plants Vs. Zombies is a classic. I must be honest because I have not played the game since college, which was over a decade ago. And now, I saw the original game so I decided to step back into memory lane and try this classic.
For those unfamiliar, Plants vs. Zombies was a 2000's tower defense game where players use weaponized plants to combat a horde of zombies and stop them from reaching a home. Players plant sunflowers to gather sunlight, and then use that sunlight to get a variety of plants, from peashooters to Wall Nuts.
Back in the day, I had fun with this, and played it for hours. Now, retrying it on mobile for the first time in years, it's still pretty good. The wacky atmosphere is still pretty fun, and I also lost track of time trying to clear the game. It's still fun, and it's still challenging.Just like I remembered, players still have to plan their plants and maximize their sunlight harvesting. The zombies are also quite varied, and they grow stronger as the game progresses, from normal zombies to giants that can hurl smaller zombies to the plants at the back. The game is surprisingly strategic all things considered.
My only gripe about the game is that every wave tends to be the same way. It's not really much, but it makes the game a bit predictable. But that's just a minor complaint in my opinion and does not take away from how great the game is over a decade later.
The Good:
A solid nostalgia trip back to the late 2000's, and still delivers on the fun. Very strategic with a variety of plants to use, as well as a good variety of zombies to fight.
The Bad:
Enemy waves tend to be the same and this could get predictable.
Final Verdict:
If you want a blast from the past or just want a solid game to pass the time, this one is definitely for you!
