Pure Hack-and-Slash Joy; If You Don’t Care About Story - Avalar: Shadow War [QUICK REVIEW]

"A fun-to-play, hack-and-slash ARPG that’s surprisingly solid for what it offers."
🎮 Gameplay: Pretty straightforward. Just smash buttons and mow down enemies. Tons of characters to pick from and build your own team. Easy, satisfying fun. [9.3/10]
📖 Storyline: Literally non-existent. Adventure mode throws you into chapter after chapter with plain “defeat all enemies” or “protect the NPC” objectives. No depth, no buildup. For an ARPG; That’s a major letdown. [6/10]
🕹️ Controls: Just pure button mashing. Nothing fancy, nothing fussy and honestly, that’s the charm. [9.5/10]
🤼 Combat Mechanics: You roll with a three-hero squad, swapping between them mid-fight, no cooldowns for swapping. Skills charge even when the character's off-screen, and triggering the ski of a hero not in fight auto-swaps them in. Feels clean and snappy. [9/10]
🧠 Strategy & Tactics: There’s a solid mix: ranged, melee, AoE, healing, shielding and plenty of tools to play around with depending on the fight. Not too bad. [7/10]
🎨 Graphics: Much better than expected. Clean, colorful, and no mobile crappy designs in sight. [8/10]
🎥 Camera & POV: Classic isometric angle. Doesn’t get in the way; keeps things clear and focused. [8.4/10]
🦸 Character Diversity: Lots of unique heroes to mess with. Each one brings a different style to your team, and that variety keeps it engaging. [8/10]
🎖️ Progression System: Standard gacha formula. Clear stages, grind events, power up your crew. Nothing new, but it works. Didn't look too pay to win either, but I haven't played enough to see whether it's generous towards the F2P community. But still, worth a shot since the game is good. [7/10]
💖 Overall Experience: Outside the complete lack of story, the game’s actually pretty damn enjoyable. If you’re into quick-action ARPGs without the fluff, it’s worth a shot. [7.2/10]
👍 Pros:
  1. Simple, satisfying gameplay
  2. Smooth controls
  3. Fun team-based combat
  4. Variety of characters and skills
  5. Clean, colorful visuals
👎 Cons:
  1. No storyline at all
  2. Repetitive mission types
  3. Standard gacha system
