Sandy's Skill Design

Hey Party players,
Recently, we covered our latest hero Sandy’s design process and our objectives in adding such a whimsical character to Flash Party. Today, let’s talk about his skill design, and we’ll share some tips and tricks on using Sandy!
Among Sandy’s skills, we all love the animation effects from his Horizontal Special and Up Special skills: when he hits his opponents, you'll notice the Chinese characters “凸” and “凹” appearing for just a split second.

For those observant players who’ve tried playing Sandy, you may have noticed that many of his moves are actually inspired from the Chinese martial art, Eight Extremities Fists (also known as Shaolin Baji Quan). For example, Sandy’s Horizontal Special’s final hit Iron Shoulder/Iron Mountain Lean is a classic Baji Quan move that has been widely used in many animated works and fighting games.
To utilize Sandy well, players should practice weaving Special-type moves in between regular attacks. Sandy’s Neutral Attack is a 8-hit combo with a longer gap between the 4th and 5th hit, so opponents might be able to slip away from the attack. Therefore, understanding when to add an Up Special or Horizontal Special would be beneficial for your combat.

Horizontal Special has different moves depending on whether it’s used on the ground or in the air. When used on the ground, it would appear as the aforementioned Iron Shoulder. When in the air, Sandy would perform a flying kick in a diagonally downward fashion toward the opponent, which he picked up during his “training” with the plethora of powerhouses at the Party gym. Who do you think he learned this from? (Hint: there’s only one hero well-trained in powerful kicks!)

Similarly, Sandy’s Down Special move is also similar to S-17’s. Looks like she’s also a gym junkie!
As a melee hero, Sandy’s reach is relatively short. However, he is very strong when he has the chance to get right up to his opponent’s face. For new Sandy players, we recommend summoning Bandy with Sandy’s Neutral Special, and utilize his attacks to create openings for Sandy to approach the opponent.

Even if the opponent is not on the same plane as Sandy, Bandy would be able to locate the opponent with its tracking function and attack with its yoga ball. Another point to note is that the moment Bandy is released, it will charge forward without regard for any opponent that may be behind it, so please be aware of the direction when using the move.
Sticker Skills
Sandy’s the first hero who will be released with both Sticker moves already available! Let’s do a quick runthrough.
TapTap
Sandy’s first Sticker replaces his Neutral Special to change Bandy’s appearing location from behind him to in front of him. It can be used to flank the opponent or be used while having Sandy’s back facing the opponent to maximize the coverage on the platform. Whether you’re using the Sticker skill or the original Neutral Special, be mindful of one thing—if Bandy’s appearing location is outside of the platform, Bandy might just fall off!
The other Sticker Heavy Hitter is Sandy’s unique combo chain. Once you switch out Down Special Eight Extremities - Parry for this, Sandy will leap up after the first hit. Players only need to drag the D-button according to the opponent’s trajectory and tap Neutral Attack to unleash a functional and glorious combo attack automatically!
TapTap
Sandy can be unlocked from any of the chests currently, so may the RNG gods be in your favor! Once you unlock him, remember to give him and his buddy Bandy’s moves a whirl on stage~ As always, let us know what you think of our latest hero by leaving a comment below.
Till next time,
XD
