Solo Knight Review—A Somber Unfolding of a Child’s Journey Into Knighthood

At times, life may not be all rainbows and sunshine. There'd always be moments where we'd all go through tough times, be it failing a major exam or experiencing some form of disappointment.
So, whenever I'm feeling down in the dumps, you'd most likely find me having a controller in my hand or hovering a smartphone for long hours in the lounge.
Well, I'm not sure about you, but there's always something in video games that makes them an easy escape from the stresses of life. Hence, I found myself diving into the world of Solo Knight as a prepubescent boy to prove myself worthy of knighthood.
I was first greeted with a brilliant opening cinematic before setting off to prove myself to the world alongside my uncle before being forced to fend for myself 🥺
In pursuit of knighthood, the developer, Shimmer Games, has me traversing the broodingly dark ARPG (action role-playing game) dungeon crawler that's brimming with monstrosities on auto-pilot.
Whenever these dreadful creatures become far too overwhelmingly powerful, I'd die a horrible death before returning to the previous level (at least until I decide to move on). What I was most thankful for was that I didn't have to suffer any form of repercussions for each death that I had landed myself into.
Desperate to strengthen up, I braced myself and fought through the never-ending hordes, acquiring loot simultaneously. With the considerable depth of choices available for the viable build and weapon upgrade customisation, I've discovered how much of an indecisive hoarder I can be (so, don't judge). However, it quickly dawns on me that it is quite a hassle when it comes to changing my weapon choice. Much unlike Sword Hunter, Shimmer Games doesn't include a feature for you to reset your weapons, which is quite a bummer. With a need to forge the new bow from scratch, I gradually discover how much of a grind the game has become since you're basically going through the same thing continually 😞
Apart from that, the lack of ads bombarding the screen definitely makes my gaming experience more enjoyable. Wouldn't you think so? Even though it may be less than a minute long, nothing will be popping up in the midst of or after any battle.
Solo Knight seems like a lovely idle battler to get yourself into as it has proven itself to be a brilliant choice to immerse yourself in. So, if you're into dungeon crawlers or loot grinding, be sure to prep yourself for the journey of knighthood and prove yourself to the world here.
