EDIT 1:
The fact that I can die to a boss' skill AFTER I killed them, watch legendary loot drop, get booted from the dungeon, and then have no way to recover dropped gear, is enough for me to come here. To be clear, the end game dungeon bosses can be cleared ONCE per level, with exclusive rewards dropping each level. So, now that I have died twice after killing a boss and lost exclusive gear drops, I hope I can prevent at least one other player from experiencing that. In the grand scheme of how looting and the auction house works, it's not REALLY a big deal. However, there should still be a system implemented to prevent players from losing legendary drops.
EDIT 2:
After playing for almost a week now, I can safely say the devs want this to be a beta test and nothing more. They are listening to feedback, have provided 1k gems (10 pulls worth) daily for logging in and don't even let you purchase in game currency as of yet. For me, that says that at least for RIGHT NOW in the beta, their focus is to build an incredible game. The combat is smooth but the best part about the game is the build mechanics. You can quite literally build any way you want. The possibilities are, as the name implies, infinite. I have changed my build mid dungeon before based off an item drop lol. I will say that some of the supporting skills don't make sense to me yet, like one that's supposed to activate on taking damage. It's weird that a skill like that is only available to passive skills that don't activate under any circumstances in the first place. It's very possible I'm just missing the mechanic though! All in all, for a BETA this game has been nothing short of endless fun.

it's a great game, it really is. it's just sad to see Genshin Impact ruining phone games the same way Fornite ruined console gaming.
Though monetary gain doesn't seem to be the primary focus of this game, it SEEMS (key word) as though you will inevitably get power crept and be backed into spending money for their version of the gacha, just like every other phone game out there. It's sad, that's not what ARPGS are and that's certainly not what Torchlight ever was. The differences between the rare to legendary are unfortunately exponential.
On top of a gacha, they also have your generic battle pass. So far, it looks like they don't let you buy a premium version, though they have rewards listed. The premium rewards, of course, are leaps and bounds better. I think qt your first free level, you get 30 of their gems Respectively, the premium spot for the same lvl is 100 gems. My complaint here is not the concept of a battle pass, but the concept of a battle pass in a Torchlight game that is now also implementing a gacha system..hmmm...
The game itself is actually very enjoyable. I haven't been able to put it down since I downloaded it and I plan to continue through the 6 weeks. The combat feels very smooth, the graphics are satisfying, and the music is pretty nice too. My HOPE is that I dont have to FEEL like I have to spend money to make progression like "name literally any other gacha game" It is one thing to adopt a battle pass system to encourage more consistent playtime from your player base and throwing in cosmetics that are optional and have no influence on game play...HOWEVER it is completely different to hinder your players, or at the very least, make them feel like they have to give you money to progress in your game.
Until I play more and can see just how cash grabby the devs are being, this will remain a 4*
Dear Hunter, Thank You for your feedback. We wish to hear more from you during the testing period!
