In addition to the wide range of skills which may be combined and linked for endless exciting possibilities, there are 6 special mechanisms which can be further utilized. These include [hardened], [thrill], [surge], [marked], [barrier], and [blur].
At their most basic level, each of these 6 mechanisms manifest themselves as simple statuses. When linked with certain affixes and skills however, they can result in surprisingly powerful effects.
[Thrill]
As this effect increases three types of speed, characters relying on rapid attacks will prefer this path.
[Thrill] basic effect: Each stack of [thrill] grants +7% attack speed, cast speed, and movement speed. Base duration is 3 seconds and stacks up to 3 times.
[Thrill] may be accessed easily through its support skill version, "Thrill".
Support skill - Thrill: 100% chance to gain [thrill] when supported skills kill an enemy; supported skills have a chance to grant [thrill] when hitting a rare or legendary enemy.
Talents - Goddess of Hunting - Core Talents - Uplifting:
+30% chance to grant [thrill] on a critical strike, cooldown of 0.5 seconds; +50% critical strike damage on recent [thrill] gain.
Some pieces of Legendary gear also grant access to [thrill].
[Thrill] can grow along two paths: vertically to increase its stacks; horizontally to improve its effects.
Improving [thrill] stacks vertically:
Talents - Marksman - Core Talents - Euphoria:
+1 to maximum [thrill] stacks; per [thrill] stack: +1% chance to avoid damage; per [thrill] stack: 4% extra damage.
Talents - Druid - Core Talents - Calm:
+3 to maximum [thrill] stacks; when [thrill] is received, removes all ailments, crowd controls, and curses.
Legendary gear - Crimson King:
+1 to maximum [thrill] stacks.
Legendary gear - Fatal Feast:
+1 to maximum [thrill] stacks.
Improving [thrill] effects horizontally:
Talents - Marksman - Core Talents - Euphoria:
+1 to maximum [thrill] stacks; per [thrill] stack: +1% chance to avoid damage; per [thrill] stack: 4% extra damage.
Talents - Bladerunner - Core Talents - Fighting Will:
Lose 5% of current life when acquiring thrill; +120% thrill effect.
Talents - Goddess of Hunting - Core Talents - Uplifting:
+30% chance to grant [thrill] on a critical strike, cooldown of 0.5 seconds; +50% critical strike damage on recent [thrill] gain.
Legendary gear - Crimson King:
3-6 added attack physical damage per [thrill] stack; while under [thrill], 3% maximum life restored on defeat.
Legendary gear - Will of Fight:
+5% damage per [thrill] stack; +5% critical strike damage per [thrill] stack; +5% life regeneration speed per [thrill] stack.
Legendary gear - Fury Heart:
+20% critical strike rating per [thrill] stack; removes all stacks of [thrill] after reaching maximum [thrill] stacks.
Legendary gear - Fatal Feast:
4-6 added attack physical damage per [thrill] stack; +5% attack critical strike damage per [thrill] stack; +5% chance to cause bleeding.
The most common method to improving [thrill] is as follows: First follow the talent tree vertically to increase the maximum number of stacks allowed by [thrill], then follow its paths horizontally to improve speed and critical strike damage gains.
Other Micro Talents and Medium Talents are scattered throughout the various talent trees in Torchlight: Infinite. [Thrill] may be combined with lightning damage and shock, or it can be combined with damage reduction and life restoration for improved survivability. In the end, [thrill] will prove to be a good fit for any build that values attack speed, cast speed, movement speed, or all three at once.
