Does Not Commute Review—Every Morning Commuter's Worst Nightmare

Ever since my graduation, my world has changed. Yet, I am still a freelancer, now with a longer list of wants to ignore (CoughfulfilCough).

However, in the bigger picture, things—having some me time, the ability to have diversity every day in clients, the necessity of being stuck in crazy gridlocked traffic and flexibility in work schedule—remain essential. I can sneak out the door for a brilliant cuppa or head downtown for a lovely catch up session.

After all, being stuck in traffic can be one of the most stressful experiences in anyone's day. Navigating turns, highway congestion, and inattentive drivers can really dampen your spirits.

Yet, Does Not Commute (DNC) takes the concept of daily commutes and smashes it into a brick wall. After giving this game a whirl, you will definitely come to appreciate the relaxing traffic jam you constantly find yourself stuck in every morning.

Viewed entirely from above, you will have to guide a series of morning commuters to their goal by navigating them across a roll of different road junctions as quickly and efficiently as possible.

As easy as that sounds, just be prepared to hit replay... a lot.

Although each navigation only lasts for mere seconds, I have come to realise that it is effortlessly easy to begin with—the roads are clear, the route clearly defined, and the process entirely straightforward. Once the said vehicle reaches its goal, your task is completed.

You'd think the job's done, right?

Well, that is until the next car (or bike) cruises into view. That's when your mission begins to become a tad more complicated. After all, both vehicles and time travel are essential to DNC, where it pits you against yourself on rigorous courses. As time rewinds, you are charged with steering Car two, three, four, and so on to their destinations without hitting any other vehicles whose routes you've already successfully navigated. So, what this means is that though you start with an entirely clear track, ten or more cars in, DNC becomes as hectic and overwhelming as the M25 on your average weekday morning.

If that doesn't evoke enough tension, every stage in DNC comes with a ticking clock. Every journey you are tasked with making takes vital seconds off the countdown timer that runs throughout the entire game. The longer you take, the more collisions that occur, the more seconds slip through your fingers—and when the time is up, it's up for good.

Game over.

Anyway, it has been hours, and I'm still giving it my all to beat my previous score because I'm still short of a good screenshot (At least that's what I've been telling myself).
