Chimeraland thrusts you into a fantasy world where you are given the freedom to explore.
Audio (★★★★☆)
✔️ Immersive soundscape
Story (★★☆☆☆)
✔️ Touches on elements of Eastern Mythology
❌ Translations are rough around the edges
Gameplay (★★☆☆☆)
✔️ A mashup of game elements (Open-world, survival, MMORPG, PVP, base-building, pet-fusion and world exploration game mechanics)
✔️ Close resemblance to games, like Ark, Rust, Conan Exiles, Terraria and Monster Hunter
✔️ A huge swathe of character customisation
✔️ Cross platform
✔️ A codex of items that you can discover in your exploration
✔️ No auto-modes
✔️ Search feature pinpoints everything you want to search for instantly
❌ It feels like the developers have chunked too many things tgt so there are loads of glitches
❌ It doesn’t provide a clear tutorial about the game
❌ It can be janky at times
❌ It can be rather grindy when you farm for resources
❌ Basic combat and skills
❌ Tons of processes are too tedious (For example, when you capture a pet)
❌ Bizarre incubation process
❌ Many types of in-game currencies
Graphics (★★★☆☆)
✔️ Realistic 3D art style
✔️ Animal designs are stunning
❌ UI interface is a hassle to navigate
Verdict (★★★★★☆☆☆☆☆)
Despite its potential, I’d have to say that Chimeraland didn’t hit the nail at all. Despite their amazing visuals, everything in the game just sends me into confusion or laughter (especially the way you have to incubate the egg) It was quite a turn off really, tbh.
Even so, the attraction of Chimeraland isn’t necessarily tied to its gameplay, but rather, you do your own thing and create your own fun I guess. So, unless you’re into survival and world exploration games or someone new to sandbox games, I’d recommend you to go for something more exciting.
