MMA Manager Review—An Aspiring Wrestling Strategist's Mediocre Escape to MMA Fantasy

Ah, the sweet smell of the weekends filling the air on a Thursday evening.

Some of us are wrapping up our assignments in the office, while others are signing off their Slack from home. Either way, I'm so relieved that tomorrow is Friday and just shy of the weekends that we are much deprived of.

I mean, I love my job and all, but it's honestly taking a toll on me. What more could I ask for when freedom from work is right at my doorstep.

I'd love to think that the weekends are a form of reward for my hard work and perseverance—the endless influx of editing requests from the moment you sign on to the ten-minute phone calls of clients wondering what's going on as if their job is more demanding than yours will ever be.

Let's face it, Thursday is the salt on the rim of a margarita that's simply beckoning your lips to press against the cup.

At this juncture, folks, I'm just itching for an opportunity to sweat the stress away. With the significantly high number of covid cases, I decided to stay in and turn to my daily affair—indulging in games.

Anyway, MMA Manager involves exhilarating fights, and it's a sports management game that hits the sweet spot of low intensity. However, you won't be journeying with a fighter through his career. Instead, MMA Manager assigns you as the gym manager, where you'll recruit fighters of various weight classes and put them through training regimens while scheduling fights.

MMA Fighter starts off simple enough: having you in an empty gym where you'll be recruiting your first wrestler. For each wrestling campaign and training your wrestler undergoes, you will gain a certain amount of in-game currency (coins and prestige). Win enough campaigns, complete enough training, and you can enhance the gym. Not before long, you'll be scheduling wrestlers to show off their moves in tournaments and even perhaps challenge other players. I have to admit, I've bitten my nails watching those one-minute rounds go by.Sure, I may not be one for MMA and wrestling, but it gives me better insights into what goes on behind the scenes. As such, it eventually dawned on me that the overly simple game mechanics does, in a certain sense, become quite a bore yet remains quite intriguing. Most crucially, my influence on the wrestlers' fighting style has ignited my competitive spirit, drawing me into the game as my gym takes a rumble into the octagon ring. What's more, nothing beats being in that mob of spectators that forms around a schoolyard brawl while immersed in engaging music.

On a different note, I think what contributes to the downside of MMA Manager is its repetitive nature. What this means is that you will have to go through the same things repeatedly throughout the entire game, but such is life, innit?

Anyway, if you're looking to get your hands on another sports management game or just want to dive into the wrestling title, MMA Manager fits the bill while giving you a challenge.
