Chinese Player Made a 3D Map for Leyndell Royal Capital’s Sewer in Elden Ring

The underground sewer of the royal capital city Leyndell is undoubtedly the toughest map to explore in Elden Ring. With dozens of similar-looking turnoffs that were randomly connected within the three different levels of the whole Leyndell, the sewers are a nightmare for players that have no sense of direction.

Recently, a Chinese player called Wondering Tiger has created a 3D underground sewer map to help other players that can’t find their way.

The entire 3D map contains all the sewers and part of the upper buildings of Leyndell. The map has marked out all the turnoffs, shortcuts, enemies, and props that can be obtained. Wondering Tiger also highlighted all the doors and elevators that need to be interacted with in red and used arrows to point out a reasonable exploration route for all players to refer to.

Although received a lot of praise and thanks from players for his professional map in the comment section of the video, Wondering Tiger said he is not a professional cartographer. He admits that he is the kind of player who has no sense of direction. Since he got lost in the sewers too many times, he decided to make this map to save himself and other players from this misery.

Producer of the Souls series, Hidetaka Miyazaki always likes to add elements that confuse players like fog, similar-looking turnoffs, and muddy surfaces that slow players’ movements. Players will get lost and killed by monsters jumped out of nowhere eventually. The Tower of Latria from Demon’s Souls, Blighttwon from Dark Souls, Forbidden Forest from Bloodborne and Central Gutter from Dark Souls II are all good examples of this kind of map design. This kind of unique design style was jokingly called "Hidetaka Miyazaki theme park" by Chinese players, and navigating through this park has always been a challenge, even with very detailed video walkthrough.

Wondering Tiger said he spent ten hours a day for five days to make this 3D map and might continue to make maps of other areas in Elden Ring. However, he needs to finish the game first because making the map took up too much of his game time.

Wondering Tiger also revealed an interesting little detail, according to his personal experience when making the map, Elden Ring's map is about 6 square kilometers big, which is thirty times the size of FromSoftware's previous game Sekiro’s map. If Wondering Tiger actually created an entire 3D map for Elden Ring, this is going to be one of the most ambitious 3rd party tools in recent gaming history.
