The China domestic market’s games revenue growth was driven by the impressive performance of Honor of Kings, Call of Duty Mobile, and Moonlight Blade Mobile, but restricted by the limited revenue of Dungeon and Fighters, and Game for Peace.
The company said they have carried out a series of comprehensive methods in China's domestic market to protect minors, which reduced the minor’s spending and required the company more resources on the new methods’ implementation. These two factors limited the game's revenue growth.
On a global scale, Tencent’s revenue growth was driven by the excellent performance e of PUBG Mobile, Valorant, Brawl Stars, and Clash of Clans, the company said in an announcement.
In quarter four of 2021, the company saw minors’ gaming time on its services decreased by 88% year-on-year. Now the gaming time by minors accounted for only 0.9% of the total. The transactions from minors also dropped by 73% year-on-year in Q4.
For the full year 2021, Tencent saw its overall revenue hit 560.12 billion CNY, up 16% compared with that of 2020.
