NetEase’s First RTS Mobile Game Roar of War Will be Released On May 26th

Just now, NetEase has announced that its first RTS mobile game, Roar of War, will be released on May 26th. As one of the very few mobile RTS games, Roar of War features an exceptional gameplay mixing of MOBA and RTS mechanics with a mobile-friendly control scheme. The game is currently available for pre-registration in the App Store and Google Play. Players who pre-register will receive an exclusive avatar after the official release.

Roar of War tells the story of the war between the four races on the continent of Mogolland, the human empire, the savage orcs, the dark elves and the sons of the forest. The savage orcs and dark elves wish to spread chaos and disorder across the continent, while the sons of the forest and the human empire wish to establish a broader order and peace. Thus, a war for the throne of Mogolland begins. The game contains a story mode and an arena for PVP combat. Players can freely choose one of the four races, play as heroic units on the battlefield, and eventually achieve victory. In the story mode, the four races will be divided into two camps, and players will join their allies after choosing their race; to spread the light of order on the continent of Mogolland or bring chaos to every corner. Arena mode also supports 2v2 PVP battles, wherein players will not be bound by the background settings in the story and can freely choose the race of their ally.

Unlike the complex control mode of traditional RTS games, NetEase has simplified the game's mechanics for the convenience of mobile players and integrated the most popular MOBA game elements in China in recent years. Players can control their own hero units on the battlefield in the same way as in MOBA games. Meanwhile, the system can operate normal units automatically. Players will only need to set the general direction and commands when the game starts. The game also uses the jungle mechanic within MOBA games, where players can kill legendary beasts to speed up their access to mining resources and produce more advanced units. Apart from the different control modes, most of the game is very much in the style of traditional RTS games. Players can upgrade their bases to generate advanced units, send mining units to collect resources and launch attacks from sea, land and air.
