Soul Core System - The History of Bosses

Today, we will introduce an important system in the game to you. It's called the Soul Core.
When designing the content of the sequel, besides protagonists like Hela and Esther, we also put a lot of effort into designing the bosses. All the bosses are designed based on the game's background but they all have their unique souls. They are brought to the protagonists by a mysterious force. They have different appearances, backgrounds, and skill features.
As the game's design progresses, those characters have turned into clear visual content from general concepts. They are as important as the protagonists. We don't want the characters with unique personalities to only show up in a certain stage of the game and become random pedestrians on the protagonists' way to rescue the world. We want those bosses to have deeper interactions with the players so we can offer you a more immersed game experience in this degenerator world.

After the thought came to our mind, we didn't have a clear design idea at the beginning. Usually, designers will add an affinity system to the game. By gifting the characters repeatedly or through minor interactions, players can earn friend points and unlock character stories after meeting certain goals. Although it's a widely accepted system, it doesn't really fit the style of our game. As an action game, players value the battle experience.

After careful consideration, we decide to add a system called the Soul Core to the game and the system will connect the protagonist with the boss.
In the game, Hela can add the favored bosses to the battle in the form of Soul Cores. As guardian spirits, they will cooperate with Hela during the battle and cast various Soul Core skills.

The Soul Cores that can join the protagonist in battles include all bosses in the game. They will accompany the protagonist in every battle and they gradually become your closest friends during the process.
Wait, there's more! When you meet them again, you won't see them in the form of their souls being restrained. There will be no despair or sorrow. You will see their original appearances from before they offer their souls to Well of Urd. If you want to learn about their history, you may be able to find it on the slates in the Colossus' Library.
