In the age of technology, the Internet is easily one of the most influencal things. We spend a good chunk of our lives on the Internet now, be it for work or for playing games, but unfortunately Internet is one of those things that is only there till you pay your Internet bills or stay on the grid. While the latter point might sound easy, there's certainly a lot of places that barely get a signal, let alone fast enough Internet to run games like PUBGM or Fortnite.
Though worry not! I've come with my top 5 singleplayer game recommendations that work completely offline:
(Note: this list isn't in any particular order)
Magic Survival
Genre: Roguelike Shoot 'em up
Price: Free
Review: If you like Vampire Survivor then this game is right up your alley. Magic Survival is an endless horde survival game, in it you pretty much endlessly massacre horde of approaching enemies. As you fight them, you collect EXP and levels which give you options to get different abilities and combos. There's also a class system which pretty much dictates which build you should go for. While the graphics of Magic Survival might not be AAA quality, it's still a great addicting time killer game.
Minimum Specs: Low end, though after 30 minutes mark the amount of enemies increase substantially so a low end phone may experience some frame drops.
Crying Suns
Genre: Tactical Roguelite
Price: $8.99
Review: Contrary to its name, Crying Suns has no Suns that appear to be Crying. Though don't let that deter you from playing this underrated gem. Crying Suns takes you on a journey across the stars as you, an admiral, command your battleship towards the capital of a lost empire. Crying Suns is a heavily story focused game and boy does it have an amazing storyline, had me on the edge of my seat the entire time! Aside from the story, the combat system of Crying Suns is very similar to FTL, it's very tactics based space combat. Quite fun once you get the hang of it. The gameplay outside of combat revolves around making decisions of various kinds. All in all, Crying Sun is an underrated gem which I can't recommend enough!
Minimum Specs: Medium end, though you'll still feel frame drops in longer sessions.
Phantom Rose
Genre: Roguelike CCG
Price: Free
Review: Phantom Rose at first glance looks like just another low quality anime game, but when you give it a try you discover its amazingly high quality gameplay and the best part? It's free! There's no p2w in this game, only skins and an optional purchase to remove ads. All main content is free! Though what's the main content about? It's a story focused turn based roguelike CCG, quite a mouthful but you can expect gameplay mechanics similar to Slay The Spire.
Minimum Specs: Low end should run this game file though it does drain charging fast so that might become an issue on lower end.
Shattered Pixel Dungeon
Genre: Turn Based Roguelike
Price: Free
Review: Shattered Pixel Dungeon is a hardcore pixel roguelike that'll really put your turn based skills to test, around every corner death awaits and you'll be dying a lot but the gameplay loop will make those deaths still feel rewarding since you'll go in next time with even more knowledge. Another cool thing about Pixel Dungeon is the modding community, there's a lot of mods for this game that change how it's played and all of them are free! You can find the mods here
Minimum Specs: Low end, this game shouldn't have trouble running on even a potato really
Black Border
Genre: Papers, please like
Price: $1.99
Review: If you've ever wanted to take on the duty of a border inspector then this game is for you! Black border takes you through the journey of a border inspector during an alt history Cold War Russia. Black border is basically a spiritual port of papers, please. In it you experience the pressure of being a border inspector during war tensions and civic unrest, its a hard task but someone has to do it. We don't usually get to hear stories about people who take on this task so this game really brings up a new perspective.
Minimum Specs: Low end, there shouldn't any issues on low end as this game isn't resource intensive.
