Let me say this first: it's a well-made game and I enjoyed it. It's a scary puzzle & adventure game that is, well, a little typical.
I am not saying that I don't like this game. The soundtrack is nice. I like how the computer records audio clips when abnormal activities occur. A painting of a family, which is the first thing you see in this game, is quite scary and unsettling. (Clearly a tribute to Munch's The Scream.) And all the writings in the game like letters and diaries are pretty fun to read. You can feel the developers really put effort into the details. But for some horror maniac who‘ve seen so many horror movies and who have played a few mystery games, this game is a little predictable.
Let's start with the story. You are a paranormal investigator who will be exploring a creepy and probably haunted house where a little girl went missing. The family just moved in. The little girl was sick and had to visit the hospital frequently. The father was negligent. And someone also disappeared mysteriously in this house years ago. See all the ominous signs? How could it not go wrong?
(Everyone in a horror game just has to write a diary.)
After you now have a typical beginning of a horror story, here come the puzzles. They are very challenging, which is why I enjoyed the game. You will need to take pictures and you can draw on them. Of all the items, the magnets on the refrigerator creep me out the most.
Overall, I would say Forgotten Room is a pretty decent mystery-solving game. You will need to pay for the entire work. I won't say if it's worth it or not. You should be able to make the decision by the time you finish the free part.
I agree. These puzzles are just sooo hard!
