The Games You Need To Try! My All-Time Favorites Since Joining TapTap!

it’s been a wild ride since I started writing for TapTap. Since then, I was trapped in a major city-wide shutdown, moved back to the United States with a cat, started graduate school, and, MOST IMPORTANTLY, have reviewed over forty titles with TapTap. Admittedly, I never would’ve thought to play some of these games on my own. And some of these games have been gems I’ve kept on my phone and play regularly. One thing for sure is that I’ve gained a deeper perspective and respect for game developers and the tiny nuances they put into trying to make a great mobile game! So, here is a list of five of my favorite games I’ve personally reviewed since regularly contributing to the site!

If you could go back and change anything about your life, what would it be? Perhaps you’d return to your childhood and have more fun? Maybe you’d choose a new major and pursue a different career path. Or finally, take a chance and confess your feelings to the one you love? It’s these high-concept questions that make Finding Paradise a gem to behold. I never had the opportunity to play “To the Moon” or “A Bird’s Story.” Still, when I finally played Finding Paradise, I was blown away by the amazing narrative. You can check out my review here.

Dementia is scary. In fact, in the United States alone, the total value of unpaid care for Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia is over $232 billion, according to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention. So when I learned there is a mobile game where loving someone with dementia is the selling point, I knew it would either hit hard or court disaster. Luckily, We’ll Always Have Paris handled the subject tastefully and did a great job teaching you about living with someone with dementia. The art is minimalistic, and the choices guide the story’s direction. The game is about an hour total and manages to hit some pretty big emotional notes. Not exactly a lighthearted entry, but definitely worth playing.

Okay... you got me... anyone that’s been reading my posts knows I’M TEAM CAT! So of course, I needed to give the pawsome furbabies some love, and this is where Cats In Time comes in. Developed by Pine Studio, Cats in Time is a free-to-play puzzle game where you’re tasked with finding cats by solving puzzles and riddles across 3D-rendered environments from different ages in history. It’s one of the few games I’ve given a five-star review. Cats in Time sets itself apart from a good game to an excellent one by adding a charitable aspect to the gameplay. For every one hundred thousand cats saved in the game, Pine Studio has pledged to buy ten kilograms (or about twenty-two pounds) worth of cat food for the nonprofit cat rescue association Prava Šapa, which means “true paw” in Croatian. if you’re into saving cats and fun mobile games this one is a go!

Developed in 2018, Forgotten Anne tells the story of what happens to lost, misplaced, and otherwise forgotten items. You play as Anne, an enforcer who keeps the forgotlings in check and one of two humans living in the Forgotten Lands. The other is Master Bonku, the lead engineer of the Ether Bridge and master of Anne and the forgotlings. The story picks up amidst a crisis when shit hits the fan due to a group of rebels attacking the Forgotten Lands. The game has an incredible score nominated for “Original Song - Video Game” at the 9th Hollywood Music in Media Awards. To bring it home, the game utilizes an entire cast of voice actors who had an emotional charge to the adventure. Suffice it to say, I had an excellent time playing this one, and this is one that I regularly come back to on my phone. You can check out more here.

What can I say? I love politics and interactive stories, and This is the President combines both these things! This Is the President is a Choose-Your-Own-Adventure-style interactive story where strategy and management are crucial in saving your life. I don’t just mean politically. The game’s goal is to pass the 28th amendment—an amendment granting lifelong immunity to any president. You’re trying to ratify this amendment to escape justice for past crimes as a multi-millionaire businessman. The game was released in 2020, and some characters and scenarios remind me of a particular former president. However, the game itself is still fun to play even now. More importantly, YOU GET TO BE THE PRESIDENT! You get to make all kinds of cool decisions that affect your popularity and your administration! I’m consistently returning to this one for the high replay value and changing how I’d like to manage a situation.
And that is my list! Of course, there are loads of games I’ve reviewed I loved playing, like Sumire or Ni no Kuni: Crossworlds, but these five have definitely stood out to me.

Do you like card battler games? If so, you might want to check out Neoverse. The first game I reviewed for TapTap. And for trivia, I've heard good things about Trivia Crack, or if you're playing with a friend, “Heads Up,” I love that one. It's my go-to party game!
