As Dusk Falls is an interactive drama game, which I prefer to call an interactive show, with a crime theme.
As a "good" player, I did my best to keep the characters alive and got the rarest achievement for my efforts. (Zoe, I'll always protect your parents!) In this small town, where poverty, violence, betrayal, gambling, bribery, and family feuds are mingled, everyone had a happy ending thanks to my "choices" except for the Holt Brothers, who may have to die due to karma. This is an engaging experience you can't get from watching a TV series alone. Things are unpredictable, but the game lets you see all the possible story branches. Because of that, you can be more aware of the texture of fate and the importance of each tiny decision.
All in all, it's great to explore the boundaries of storytelling in games and films by playing new forms of episodic games every year. As Dusk Falls is another masterpiece that I highly recommend to gamers after What Remains of Edith Finch and Disco Elysium.
