Spiritual Mountain is used to produce all important resources(spiritual stone, food, wood and iron), and you need assign apprentice to each resource in order to produce.
Start with 5 free apprentices, each apprentice produces 1 food every 10 seconds, production of other kind of resource require food as well which means food is the core resource, so put food at the first place.
At the same time, wood can expand the output/max storage of each resource in spiritual mountain, while the iron is mainly used to upgrade the spiritual root. For early game, upgrade food&wood to lv.20 to develop rapidly.

Altar is a way to convert excess spirit stone to celestial stones and the higher the level the more celestial stones you get per 10000 spirit stones you convert. After your qi array is complete and roam 20 is finished you can upgrade your altar using either wood iron or spirit wood. Wood is the most efficient material to use in altar upgrades.

The way to complete your spiritual mountain is to make the food level as high as possible while food and iron levels can be raised according to what is needed for the qi array but eventually after the qi array is completed it will be beneficial to upgrade wood to the maximum level to help with Altar upgrade.

In order to increase speed of completing spiritual mountain, remember to complete all 300 soul wanders everyday and purchase maps from the sect alliance and compete shops. You can also earn more maps when you participate in alliance exorcism.
