I like the game, but it feels like an early access, not what a release should be.
Here is my take on Project RIP.
Pros:
- good graphics and well optimized engine with lot of options (runs well on my toaster, surprising!)
- interesting progression system that makes the game engaging
- music is great and matches the ambiance of the game
Cons:
- bad visibility, I was cornered and 2 enemies was on me, and because it was too dark (dispite having increased gamma in the options) I could do nothing, and that happens a lot
- enemies when they are on you, you CAN'T SEE THEM:
there are 2 stories about that:
- "I was on the second map, and took constant damage, but didn't find where the enemy was, and I lost because of that" -> I discovered that one enemy is invisible until you shoot it...but because it makes no sound, you have no idea until you hit it at random)
- enemies are tiny compared to you, when they are on you, it's like they try to give you a blow job or something!
- getting stuck in the environment (especially in the first map, but also on stairs in second map, with nothing to block me as far as I could see, died that way...)
- no attack sound cue (you never know if there is something behind you)
- no spawn sound cue
- looking around for the last enemy, damn, could we have indication on screen or something?
- always short on ammo, and the pickups appear randomly. no luck? = no ammo!
- only 3 maps, and only the first one is good (despite too much mist)
Well, not that good at the current state.
If the state of the game changes, I'll update my review.
