Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is a brand new hero-collector RPG featuring all of the popular characters from the ultra popular Mortal Kombat series. Immediately the game makes you feel right at home with hi quality cinematic cutscenes, solid voice acting, and a story line that we come to expect from MK titles.
The combat took me by surprise a bit as it was actually rather smooth, and the new twist on the classic Fighting game brings a whole new element of intrigue to this title. The characters act independently by using basic attack skills without the help of the player. The player is responsible for launching special attacks for each character to dictate the flow of battle. Characters like Scorpion stay true to their roots with his classic grappling hook skill and the "GET OVER HERE" shout that's sure to please fans of the series.
MK: Onslaught features pvp, strategic simulated combat scenarios, and hi quality graphics that should please players interested in this title. The gacha system is a little more stingy than what many gacha players may be used to, with characters ranging from 1 to 5 stars.
All in all, Mortal Kombat: Onslaught is a title with a ton of potential as I think it'll be a game perfect for fans of the series wanting a different flavor of the IP on their mobile device!
Pros:
+ a new twist on Mortal Kombat IP with simulated strategy rpg combat
+ tons of familiar features famous to the Mortal Kombat IP; Scorpions “Get Over Here” with solid voice work is present
+ has PVP arena mode, as any good Mortal Kombat game should have
+ 3D models
+ Hi quality cutscenes and voice acting
Cons:
- UI may look a little dated on some devices
- Summon system will be stingy
- combat system may turn fans of the traditional series away
Final Thoughts:
Mortal Kombat: Onslaught seems like a game with a ton of potential as it provides a new take on a series that needed something to freshen up the IP. The battles are fast paced yet still require a level of strategy and attentiveness to what’s going on, and the graphics, while not the highest quality are respectable for this only being a test server.
