After Marvel's Spider-Man launched on PC on August 12 this year, its side story sequel Miles Morales will also be released tomorrow. The game has now available for pre-load on Steam and EPIC store, priced at $49.99.
Players this time will no longer play as Peter Parker who has fight as Spiderman for the past 8 years, but Miles Morales that just got his super power. Teenage Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. When a fierce power struggle threatens to destroy his home, Miles must take up the mantle of Spider-Man and own it.
Cutting-edge PC graphics optimization
With the release of the 40 series graphics cards, the optimization of Miles Morales has far exceeded its previous work when it was released on PC. Nixxes Software, which is responsible for porting the game, has provided a more varied graphics options for different devices and unlocked the frame rate.
The game also supports new techs such as NVIDIA DLSS 2 and DLSS 3 for overall game performance, DLAA that enhanced graphic quality, and Nividia Reflex to reduce input latency. With the help of DLSS 3, GeForce RTX 40 Series GPUs can boost up to 2 times of performance for 4K 120 FPS. Gamers using previous generation GPUs with DLSS 2 Super Resolution will get more than 2 times performance boost in 4K resolution at maximum settings and all ray tracing settings at the highest level. Support is also available for AMD FSR 2.1, Intel XeSS, and IGTI.
Decent Ray-Tracing
Although the story of Miles Morales still takes place in New York City, but the beautiful winter scene and the Christmas still freshened players’ eyes. And with the new ray-traced reflections and shadows, the details of the city seemed pretty decent.
The game also provides a variety of ray tracing options, and the new ray tracing shadow processing can receive feedback from the sun&moon projection generated by the light changes. Compared to the neon show of the previous work, Miles Morales undoubtedly created a more realistic and natural winter New York City.
Cinematic experience
Sony's first-party games always pull their adaptability to full extent when they come to PC. Miles Morales supports ultra-wide screen and has multiple screen resolutions. Players can actually experience the cinematic experience of New York City in the Marvel Universe. Supported resolutions include 16:9, 16:10, 21:9, 32:9, and 48:9. The 48:9 resolution is compatible with triple screen setups using NVIDIA Surround or AMD Eyefinity.
The still perfect DualSense controller
The DualSense controller was extremely important in Marvel's Spider-Man. Our review of the previous game also focused on complimenting the adaptive trigger's multi-button smooth simulation as Spider-Man swung the spider and the excellent vibration feedback during combat.
In Miles Morales, the DualSense continues to play the key role. Since Miles has a different venom power from Peter as well as invisibility, Nixxes added new vibration feedback for combat, as well as immersive controller audios. What’s more, the execution ability in Miles Morales depends on the number of combos rather than the energy bar as the previous work, so the continuous executions take the DualSense's exciting performance to a whole other level.
The growth of Miles Morales
In Marvel's Spider-Man, Peter Parker struggles with balancing his post-graduation personal life and serving justice, while Miles Morales focuses on the word "growth".
After receiving Peter's training, Miles will be the only Spider-Man in New York to guard the city for the first time, but he is not completely ready. In the main story, Miles often subconsciously think that Spider-Man is Peter instead of him, and also always fell into self-doubts during tasks. Players will witness him grow step by step with the help of his friends, thwarting enemies’ conspiracies and becoming the very Spider-Man who can truly guard the city.
Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales can be seen as a great sequel that stands on the shoulder of a giant. It has inherited a lot from Marvel's Spider-Man’s settings, scenes and combat system, but also has its unique innovation. Excellent stories, new mutation combat skills make this game wonderful and different.
