Honestly the best lore based game is #DeadbyDaylight whether youlove or hate it, one cannot deny the fact that the game with every character from survivor to killer to the entiry and observer. They explain in detailhow each person /killer was taken by the entity and a full backstory for each individual in which the lore continues to grow. If just had ghost face and the shape, freddy ect people wouldn't understand why they were convinced by the entity to come to its realm. I mean even the generators and maps have lore to them activating the exit gates and/or hatch even has lore behind them!

Honkai Impact 3rd. The lore was so rich even just put in the game isn't enough. Divided into in-game lore and game-manga lore. Everything like 400+ weapon in this game there was a lore tho. Some of them even give the player fore-shadowing for the story. Also the game has 3 timeline, Previous Era, Current Era, and future era(8 years later after current era). So.. you can imagine how much lore is there. The lore in main story getting more complex & better narration though along with your story progress.

The best lore in any game, it's so deep once you start you can't stop, some stories are so fascinating they deserve a movie
