A new trend has been spreading like wildfire among mercenaries in recent months, the act of jailbreaking registered weapons in order to modify their performance to unsafe degrees. This act immediately voids each product’s warranty, not only making it ineligible for any kind of after service, but also more than likely making it illegal to own.

We have found through our research that the shady individuals that offer these hacking services cannot be found through legal channels, and do not trade with Galactic Alliance credits, which are digitally trackable throughout the entire sector. They instead only accept a certain untraceable cryptocurrency that many simply call ‘hack credits,’ or ‘hacking credits’. This rare currency is used to award individuals for taking risks that they would never consider otherwise; we have found examples of high-risk crisis zones and certain warzones in the Frontline rumored to have surreptitiously rewarded mercenaries with hacking credits.

Hacking becomes available for weapons of tier-4 and above, and costs hacking credits. Each search attempt will result in finding 3 compatible modules that could potentially improve your weapon’s capabilities. The rarity and potency of each module depend on your luck that day; you will be able to select one of these to be installed and activated in your weapon.

Modules can be split into two broad categories: those that improve each weapon’s basic capabilities such as fire rate, damage, or reload speed, and those that affect one of its skills and their parameters. Multiple modules can be installed on one weapon, but more powerful versions of the same module will replace the previous version.

Unauthorized modifications purchased from criminal hackers with illicit currency sounds terribly dangerous, especially when discussing lethal weapons loaded with cutting-edge technology. But when asked for comments, licensed mercenaries brushed off such concerns, claiming that the hackers ‘know what they’re doing’ and that the Galactic Alliance’s weapon regulations are, quote, ‘stupid’.
