What a charming game. It is always such a pleasure playing a game with such beautiful artstyle. Sadly this is the single thing standing up for this game. I mean, where do I even begin?
As I said, this game is just gorgeous to look at, I just fell in love with it at first sight. The puzzle-like mechanics of the hills do give this game an interesting touch... and frankly, that's really where it ends on the mechanical side. The "gameplay" it's pretty much an interactive walkthrough (literally).
But story wise, it has a little bit more to show for itself. I found it peculiar how it chose to present the story and not in a bad way, I actually found it rather nice. It feels like you're reading an interactive picture book, no text or anything, just pictures describing this olds man's whole life through this journey while also having glimpses of other people's life, reminding him of such memories. And even though the story itself it's pretty clichéic, I found that it still touched me a little bit, seeing what little grandpa was going through just to say his goodbyes...
I mean there isn't anything in particular this game does wrong, everything seemed perfect actually. The music, the art, the flow and the story, all matched together in harmony to make a really beautiful game. It just felt very simple to me, and although simple doesn't always mean bad it might've not been a game especially made for me. But it was just an hour, and I would be lying if I said I didn't enjoy it at all, because I found this game rather calming.
This game is really the type you'd play while there's a rainy day outside or you're just waiting for a bus. Just give it a try, you might find it even more enjoyable then I do!
