Something left to be desired | MINIDAYZ review

MINIDAYZ is a zombie survival game that I would play at school when I have the time. Your basically a lone wolf fighting to survive. Supplies are scarce and the dead is hungry. But it’s not always like that. Here is my review on this pixelated piece of gaming.

One of the most important things to a game, is making sure that playing the game actually works. What I mean by this is gameplay. How playing the game would actually play out. It has to function well for peak gaming.

The first thing to note about MINIDAYZ is that it has two game modes. Survival is self explanatory. Special will display different games you could play such as casual, battle royale, and breach. All coming with their own problems for you as you survive. The only downfall being you can’t earn any unlockables or achievements.

The locations and environments are randomly generated. Different symbols mean different locations. The ❌ is your current location.

The right side is your inventory and the left side is stuff on the ground that you can collect. Clothing, backpacks, and vests can increase the amount of items you carry. Do note that getting damaged can lower the condition of clothes and others your wearing; getting ruined and dropping whatever you had on your person.

You have a score on the top left of your screen that can be used to unlock perks. These perks can help with many different situations, like helping you see in the dark.

If you see a survivor with a star above them, it usually means they want to trade. They would ask for an item and have a time limit for you to find it. They have a reward depending how good the item is. They are also seen traveling in a group of three.

Note: If you see this, enter it. These cars may have some gas if your lucky. They go really fast too.

Zombies aren’t the only thing you have to worry about. There are animals in this game. Only one of them, the wolf, is hostile.

Now for the graphics and music, yeah. There isn’t any music except in the main menu. The only sounds you hear is endless running and zombies chasing. Pixels aren’t really anything new either. This leaves the game looking more bland than the gameplay.

Finally for LiveOps, there isn’t any. This game is only single player and no events happen at all. Again, more bland than gameplay.

In conclusion, this game is a game. It’s nothing revolutionary and is kinda bland. Do I like the game? Meh. Will you play the game for yourself? It’s up to you. Will I still play this game in class? If I want to. With all that said, thanks for taking the time to read this. Enjoy

These type of games really peaked my interests since I'm into exploration and roguelike. There's also some project that updates this game a little bit, MiniDayZ+ and MiniDayZ Reloaded is one of those examples. Oh, you should also check out Travellers of the Wasteland. They want to recreate the game with the same concept in mind. Currently WIP though!

The downside to playing this on vanilla (atleast on the version i got) was that anything that lightens up the screen when it's night would make the screen flicker a lot between how it would look like (dark and then you could see better around a campfire or something) and day mode while the UI would basically disappear. this would also happen if you got the night vision perk too
