Gorgeous Looking Anime Style RPG Mobile Game

The Eminence in Shadow mobile game is based off the anime and continues to deliver more lore inside the game. All of your favorite characters from the anime can be found in the game. Graphically the game is a masterpiece and really brings the anime art style to life with action. The problem is during the battles there is no option to turn off the animation cut scenes when triggering a combo move or ultimate skill. The gameplay is mostly auto but gives you control over when to activate a character's ultimate skill and combo skill as well. There is also an auto button that will activate these skills without your presence needed.

The battles are visually appealing and watching the battles unfold isn't boring like most auto battling RPG games. The part that kills the fun is the constant loading screens when navigating menus and going from a new battle to your character lineup before the battle. Also, every time you have a cut scene coming up in a main quest or side quest, you have to download additional data to have the cut scene play. This can be downloaded with or without the voices. I went to the settings and did batch download hoping that would solve the problem, but it didn't. Having to download more data before you can continue to play really hurts the flow and atmosphere of playing the game.

The RPG elements are all present and you have lots of character building to do. Aside from the obvious level increase and equipment articulation, you can also increase a character's rarity, unlock and level up skills and ascend them with shard pieces. They are a bunch of different game modes including PVP versus and guilds to join or create. The start feels somewhat unbalanced though as the main story chapter 2 quest is difficult to do. This requires you to grind out the equipment dungeon right after your done the forced tutorial. The equipment quests are too easy though. My characters were 1 shotting the enemies for many of these quests. It made it feel like such a grind before I could even be stronger enough to take on the main story quest chapter 2. Despite the flaws it's still a game worth playing whether you're a fan of the anime or just love RPG games.
