I am wondering how 3 match puzzle game fits into the story-based adventure.

Gameplay wise, it sure is a match 3. Each character having their own bonus is kinda cool, and a dead board not being a game over is really nice, but it doesn't stand out much there. However the story is what makes me curious. It does very little to explain its world building, and there's almost nothing to show the inner thoughts of any character, but the interactions between them makes me curious for these things instead of annoyed that they're missing. Makes me wonder what will come of Charasi now that her life has gotten so complicated.

Path of Puzzles Match 3 RPG - A Match 3 RPG Game With DARKEST DUNGEON Vibes
Path of Puzzles is a Match 3 game that give me a lot of Darkest Dungeon vibes. The gameplay is quite different from the usual match 3 type games you've probably played in the past. There doesn’t seem to be any deep story in this game, you just wake up in what seems to be the underworld, and you are helped by some mysterious person who teaches you how to play the game. You must fight your way through waves of zombies by using the Match 3 system in order to find your salvation. Gameplay wise you can actually line up more than one color type in order to take down the enemies.

oh also, Ticket to Earth...WOW. TtE is definitely number 2 on my list. both games I have played to the finish multiple times they're so good

played might and magic Clash of Heroes? that's the Ultima match 3 game ever...once you do play it...gem matching games will shine with suck.
