MY OVERALL SCORE 6/10
The Game is very complex giving you tons of options to build your ultimate dwarf city. The problem is the game is too complicated for new players to enjoy and the tutorial is more frustrating than helpful.
Not just generated geometry -- a whole simulated world. Generated rise and fall of civilizations, personalities, creatures, cultures, etc. Infinite hours of gameplay.
Now with beautiful pixel graphics!

A lifetime “living” project - created/updated since 2003, with no end in sight
Generate your unique world and manage a bustling colony of dwarves, even as they probably mine towards their eventual demise.
A new endless hobby, just for you!

A Complex Game More Frustrating Than Fun...
Dwarf Fortress is the ultimate city building simulation experience. The attention to detail and complex gameplay gives you unlimited options. The game starts off by giving you a randomly generated map, but this is done by showing you events that have taken place before your dwarfs take over. This simulation makes the maps never the same and gives you truly a unique layout every time. The graphics are done in a 2D pixelated style which isn't horrible but does make it hard to identify some things, and that's because of the complexity of the game.

Dwarf Fortress - Losing in fun!
Little to no graphics, brutal learning curve, almost entirely keyboard based controls and yet undoubtedly one of the best games ever made. Having more content than just about any other game made, incredibly challenging game play and procedurally generated worlds leads to almost infinite replay value.

A Very Small Journey
Gameplay: 2 (Done very well and made the experience a worthwhile one) Monetization: 2.5 (Wonderful, wish more games used this model) Replayability: 1 (Slightly below the industry standard for this genre) Atmosphere: 2 (Done very well and made the experience a worthwhile one) Score: 7.5 Personal Play Time: 2.5 Hours Dwarf Journey takes clear inspiration from games like Rogue Legacy and Undermine. It is a solid roguelite action platformer with a short shelf life, clocking in at about two and a half hours. Thankfully, the game is free to play, so there's no downside to checking it out.
