One of the cleanest, most lore filled, and entertaining games I have ever played. To start, the art and overall atmosphere is beautiful, and they convey the setting of different areas very well. Animations for enemies, bosses, and the player are also very well made and unique. Regarding fighting and gameplay style, Hollow Knight really captures the essence of a Metroidvania game. Though the player has simple attacks and dodging mechanics, the way that each boss incorporates those techniques makes each of them have a purpose. Boss (and even regular enemy) attacks were often challenging, yet completely fair (e.g. Sisters of Battle). When completing a challenging boss/pantheon, I always felt a sense of satisfaction rather than relief, since there were no factors of luck involved in determining the outcome of the fight. The soundtrack is also amazing, and it, along with the artwork, creates a truly immersive environment. Overall, I would highly recommend Hollow Knight to anyone, since its balance of story, setting, and gameplay make it perfect for anyone to play.
