Lords and Tactics is a Three Kingdoms-themed management-style game that kept me invested with its cool graphics, intricate system, and voice acting.
There are a ton of these games, and gameplay-wise it's really no different than other strategy management games I've played, but you know me! I love Three kingdoms. Collecting my homies Zhao Yun, Xiao Dun (yeah, I know he's team Wei, and I'm a Shu guy, but I always admired the eye patch), and Guan Yu was awesome.
Building my barracks, training more soldiers, and leveling my heroes felt satisfying. In fact, the battle sequences against the barbarian hordes felt pretty great. One complaint was the wait times it took to build a new fortress encouraging me to use precious resources to build faster ( I want satisfaction now, dammit!), but there's always something to manage or build while playing Lords and Tactics. It's a fun little title I'll hang on to for a while.
