Chained Echoes, a story of a world devastated by war.

Chained Echoes is one of those cases that struck me by its graphics but grabbed me by its story. This title resembles the gameplay of old JRPG’s with a tweak of modern mechanics. But If I’m being honest here… I can’t say that I have finished any of the old JRPG’s. Yes, I’m opening up my horizons on the game genre that I like to cover. Well, I can compare it with Final Fantasy X and in that regard, it’s not as heavy grinding as Final Fantasy. I mean, you can grind but not to level up the character itself but its types of equipment and everything related to it. I will explain further.

Nostalgia is a powerful thing, so powerful that the once bygone era of 16-bit video games is now back and currently an oversaturated market more than ever. Every once in a while though, you find a gem worth playing. This time, it's titled Chained Echoes, a nostalgic 16-bit JRPG game in a fantasy world where Dragons and Mechas exist. Chained Echoes takes place on the continent of Valandis, a land teeming with magic and rich history, currently ruled by three warring kingdoms: Taryn, Escanya, and Garvos. Mostly set one year after a massive catastrophe resulting in heavy casualties for everyone, which forced all three kingdoms to sign a peace treaty. This is where the main characters come in, to stop an impending resurgence of the war and if possible, end it for good.
