you said you were hitting trees for wood I'm just throwing this out there Incase you didn't already know. you can craft another axe and pick ace by pressing the cross of the hammer and wrench that's above your back pack button. it's very simple once you do it. in order to increase your max level for building, you'll need to collect embers and put them inside your ember chest. over time the more embers you have the higher your level will get.
