I really wish I liked Turnaround more, because I admire a lot of what it's going for. This simple platformer is aiming for a quick-hit action game that gives players a challenge and gets them out again. The game even warns you when it starts that it doesn't auto-save because it's meant to be played a single, fifteen-minute sitting.
There's just two problems:
1. The platforming kind of sucks. Touchscreen controls often don't work well for precise platforming, and they sure don't work well here. The jumps from platform to platform are simple to the point of being boring, but as soon as the game requires a little more precision, i.e. to jump on top of enemies, it becomes supremely frustrating.
2. It's a buggy mess. I had the game freeze up on me and inexplicably prevent me from respawning after death multiple times. A focused game that doesn't require autosaves because it's meant to be blasted through in fifteen minutes is a great idea. But when that game messes up—especially when it does so after I've made significant progress—there's just not much motivation to keep going.
