Full of Stars combines the elements of interactive storytelling and an arcade experience, blending them into a delectable space adventure sandwich. It makes me say, "Please, Sir, I want some more." Add a killer soundtrack to the mix created by the dude that did the Witcher 3 Score, and you've got all the elements of a game well worth your time.
I'm really impressed with this one, from the simple controls to the fantastic visuals. Playing as a pilot returning to my planet only to find it destroyed ups the stakes. Full of Stars offers choices on where to navigate, how to interact with the crew, who to save, and what to upgrade. This all played a role in the progression of my story.
The arcade blasting aspects of dodging black holes, planets, rocks, and weapon fire were fun, and the controls were as simple as swiping left and right, and plenty of collectibles kept me entertained when trekking to my next destination.
Some might argue, Full of Stars runs the risk of being repetitive. Plot a course, dodge obstacles, collect fuel, and repeat. But screw that! I had loads of fun playing it. Full of Stars is a great mix of story and action without being either entirely. If this were an RPG, it would be a Paladin class. A nice blend of two classes (warrior and priest) without going too heavily in either direction.
Full of Stars offers smooth gameplay, an interesting narrative, beautiful visuals, and an epic space adventure, all on a tiny device. Download this one and enjoy the ride.
