In the early morning of December 28th, Honor of Kings pro player Zihuan made a long post on Weibo. He has accused his coach at Nanjing Hero of physical abuse, further saying that the club’s head coach and assistant coach had been targeting him over the past several months.
Nanjing Hero Zihuan’s Weibo post
Three hours later, the club Nanjing Hero responded with a long statement on Weibo. They claimed that Zihuan, without permission and against the club’s rules, would arrive late and leave early, causing trouble multiple times.
Currently, fans are discussing this case heatedly and pushing the topic to Weibo’s trending topic list.
In detail, Zihuan said, at first, that he had a conflict with the assistant coach about which champion to practice during a training session. Then, in the KPL Summer Split Playoffs, before a vital battle between Hero and AG, Zihuan went to meet his girlfriend privately, but following that Zihuan says he was docked three months’ salary by the club as punishment.
The conflicts heated up after that, before a group meeting, Zihuan says, “My coach asked me to participate in the meeting with other teammates, and I said I was playing the game, and no one notified me in advance (about the meeting) … Then, he (the coach) immediately beat me up, pushing me to the ground, and scolded me, saying, ‘Who do you think you are?’”.
After being beaten, Zihuan was scared, and he went to hide in the bathroom. He told his mother about the altercation when nobody was watching.
Nanjing Hero’s statement in response to Zihuan’s post
Nanjing Hero said they couldn’t get in touch with Zihuan for a verification exam.
On the other side, Nanjing Hero claims that Zihuan broke the club’s rules multiple times and met his girlfriend without permission. He wouldn’t accept advice and communication from the club. He also refused to participate in an interview in the KPL, and impacted the team’s general performance. After the Summer Split, Zihuan didn’t return to the team on time, coming back 10 days later. Following that, he performed poorly in matches and did not participate in regular training.
On whether Zihuan’s coach beat him, Nanjing Hero says that on October 3rd, the player refused to follow the training plan, and during communication, the coach had a physical confrontation with Zihuan. For this incident, the club docked the coach one month’s salary and asked him to apologize to the player. “We are sincerely sorry about this,” Hero says.
Hero showed that they messaged Zihuan multiple times about 2022 Kings International championship, but Zihuan said he wouldn’t play.
At the ongoing 2022 Kings International Championship, Nanjing Hero was eliminated in the Quarterfinals. Hero placed Xinghen as their mid-laner, who was not trained for the role because their mid-laner Zihuan was not included in the player list.
Currently, Zihuan claims he has been banned from listing for transfers by the KPL because the club reported his behavior to the league.
