I recently tried out this survival game called Dread Days: Zombie Nation. And at first glance I thought this might be something similar to maybe a Diablo game or something like that type of genre. But it didn't take long for me to sadly be very disappointed. Gameplay wise this turns out to be just another zombie survival base building time wasting game like all the rest. It pretty much follows the same template as the others as well.
It starts off with an interesting story, and shows that the combat can be interesting, but then you find your new base... And thats where it pretty much goes downhill from there. Now you're just building things which all have a timer on them, and you can speed them up of course if you like, and for a while you get some free speed timers but eventually these will stop, and then you have to start waiting on things to complete.
Of course the time will start small, but eventually the timers will increase higher and higher. And this is pretty much for everything. Of course you can speed it up if you want to spend money. That is an option. The combat is only interesting when its part of the campaign missions. If its just standard missions to clear out zombies in the surrounding areas its just a very boring encounter.
I wish the combat was always like the campaign modes versions. Those are pretty engaging and cool to be fair. Voice acting is pretty bad, but not the worst I've heard either. Visually this game isn't too bad, it looks alright. The artwork is great though, but these games always have really nice character art if you ask me.
Sadly this is pretty much the only thing the game has going for it. Overall I'd say that Dread Days: Zombie Nation is just another run of the mill base building survival game that really doesn't offer anything new. I honestly can't stand these games and will not be playing it again.
