Alright, alright, alright, we definitely did NOT see this coming lmao xd
Jokes aside, We saw this miles away. The dwindling community and player count signifies a lot. How easy it is to climb up ranks because there is literally no other people besides bots on ranked, the predatorious nature of the monetization and how hard it is to get into for old devices kinda makes this game low on the player count. EA also said they are closing the game due to "quality, quantity and cadence concerns", but we all know that they don't get enough money out of it to profit.
I played this game on launch, even get into the open beta and frankly, i enjoyed it quite a bit. Coming from the PC side of the game, I was surprised by the smoothness of the gameplay and how many contents the PC side of the things did not get, like the character "Fade". There's a rumor floating around that the mobile version going to close because the "main" game, being the PC version, of the community is raging at EA for being such a ̶p̶r̶i̶c̶k̶ good publisher they did not make the game better at any way. I, for certain can say that the Apex PC is kinda in a bad state right now because of a number of things, but we are not here to disscuss that. The Apex Mobile community has received many good events and updates that it might rivals the PC Apex, in a cannibalistic sense and brings down the whole game in the end so maybe that's one pf the reason they decide to "Sunset" (Their own word) the game, they're discontinuing the game basically.
Now, it's not all Sunshine and rainbows in the Apex Mobile community. The various bugs and cheaters on the game is horrible and such a downer for a competitive shooter game, the predatory nature of the monetization scheme are basically draining your balls and wallet for money for little to no return AND following the announcement of the closure, Electronic Arts, the Gracious Gods of a publisher, did not seem to even acknowledge the act of a simple "refund" for the players that has spent so much on this (to be) dead game. The community is furious at the best gaming company ever for this act of graciousness, especially when the game is not even like a year old since the official launch. Personally, I laugh at them because i haven't spent a dime on this game, but I get it, it's frustrating for a game you have spent you blood, sweat, tears and money into to just close and gave nothing back in return. They also promised a lot to come in the future like a new heirloom and stuff but of course, following the closing announcement that will no longer be true.
In the end, EA is just a company like any other and making money is their priority over anything else. If they bleed money from a source, all they can do is to cauterize that wound (closing it in a sense). Especially if it's a mobile game, in their eyes mobile games are such a hit-or-miss leap of faith. They could make bank by doing basically nothing or die not even a year since launch like this garbage pile. In a way this is a good outcome, we now can be sure that Respawn/EA will focus their attention to the good of Apex PC right? RIGHT?
Don't bet on it.
Oh yeah, Warzone Mobile will come soon so that's a good thing. Fingers crossed it'll do well.
