Fashion Police Squad (Full Review)
Released: 15 Aug, 2022
Price: $17 USD
In Police Fashion Squad, you take on the role of Desmond, a law enforcer for the metropolis of Trendopolis. Something fishy is going down. The populous are dressed in drab, and the city is in disarray with garish and unattractive fashion!
It's up to you to find out who the mastermind is. Flare and style your way through a slew of missions and challenges as you fight to bring back the fashion!
This has to be one of the most inventive first-person shooters I've ever played. The concept and the appearance is beautiful, you won't be disappointed with it.
Presentation
At first glance, the game may appear unattractive
You'd be apprehended and detained in style for making that remark, be careful. It has an excellent art-style and creative themes that set it apart from others.
The game presents itself like a classic old-school arena shooter, in a mission style format. You're given a goal and you need to achieve that goal, however, you see fit to do it. Slowly, quickly, safely. You're not really punished either way.
Each level is jam-packed with unique and engaging music, characters, surprises, and more. All you have to do is go out there and look for it.
Dressing formally
You can dress up your character to gain extra perks in each mission, similar to equipment menus adapted to the game's theme. It's a neat touch that fits well.
These apparel advantages include things like 20% more life, beverages restore more health, and so on. So go ahead and adapt to your specific requirements.
There is always something new
Finishing a level always resulted in a new concept in the following mission, whether it was the gameplay, or unique twists. I enjoyed every minute of it.
The brief mini-games and various forms of media they utilize to build each level ensure that the gameplay is always fresh and nostalgic, but never reused.
Gameplay
The gameplay is exciting and fast paced
As indicated in my initial impressions, it's a nonviolent shooter. This is a great idea. It's appropriate for all ages, providing nostalgia as well as entertainment.
This game, unlike others in the arena shooting genre, has its own distinct style. It is impossible to deal any damage to certain foes unless you use the exact weapon that can repair their specific outfit wear. This doesn't sound too bad.
The challenge with this comes later, more specifically in the levels that the game surrounds you with a slew of various foes in tight close quarter battle.
This makes it difficult to hit the proper opponents with the right gun while avoiding damage and swinging around the field especially on higher difficulties.
That's perhaps the most interesting aspect of this game. Combat isn't about defeating foes or slaying hordes of demons. You truly want to defend the city from the mastermind's terrible dress sense he is forcing on the populous.
The tutorial is both informative and reassuring.
If you forget how to defeat certain enemies if new a foe is thrown your way, the game will give you suggestions or just remind you how to take them down. It's a forgiving experience. Most weapons are unlocked through this interaction.
Memes and References
I could not keep up with the references
Throughout the missions, the game constantly throws out positive sentiments.
Introducing other games, referencing movies, and so on. All while maintaining a clever and distinctive manner of displaying it and being relevant to the game's context. Some things were dated, but others were unexpected and wonderful.
References I picked up on: CoD, Wolf of Wall Street, FF7, Matrix, Sniper 3, He-man, Doom, Duke Nukem, MGS, Wolfenstein, Jojo and many more.
Conclusion
This is a game you shouldn't skip
It's currently available for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X, PC & Switch.
Overall, the game does not take long to complete, but each hour is packed with new and exciting notions for a classic FPS that does not hinder it in any way.
It's a highly entertaining indie game that does several novel things while maintaining a full-fledged sense of silly humor and internet memes.
This concludes my views of this game; while my opinions may be met with criticism, that is what distinguishes gamers; you don't have to like the same things as others, nor do you have to agree with them.
If you want to catch me on one of my streams or locate me on social media, you may do so at the following locations, I'm always playing something new.
