PLAY IT OR SKIP IT?
Skip it for now, but if you really love action-RPGs, keep an eye on where it goes from here. Superfuse is a rich action-RPG that doesn’t shy away from being scary despite its colorful, comic-book-style visuals. Just know before you jump in that this game is in early access and has a handful of issues to address before it’s really solid.
TIME PLAYED
I played Superfuse for five hours. It was pretty exciting for the first two hours, but by the time I hit level ten things slowed down and the grind started wearing on me.
WHAT’S AWESOME
• Combat. I enjoyed mowing down hordes of monsters with the few abilities I had in Superfuse. I liked that I could utilize different skills and upgrade them how I wanted to while equipping all sorts of items like potions and staffs that could help me turn the tide of battle. Although I didn’t get the chance to play some of the other character types, I had a blast playing as the Elementalist, who uses fire and ice spells to strike down foes. Enemies felt increasingly difficult to beat as I progressed, ratcheting up the challenge but also the satisfaction of winning.

• Exploration. I loved exploring even more than I enjoyed slaying monsters. Although the maps for each area recycle some rooms, they’re big and filled with loot and secrets to uncover.
• Voice acting. Superfuse has impeccable voice acting throughout. Each character I interacted with had their own unique voice, which made the game come to life.
TapTap
• Visuals. I love Superfuse’s comic-book visual design and how creepy and gory it can be. From mangled, dismembered bodies to blood puddles to horrifying alien creatures, the game terrified me at times. But that fear just got me more excited to smash up some monsters.
WHAT SUCKS
• Narrative. Superfuse’s narrative isn’t anything unique. The story really shines in the beginning, but it becomes nonexistent after thirty minutes. The dialogue I encountered with other characters was the only way I could learn more about this narrative, and even then, it was hard to keep track of what was going on. The dialogue is fine but not substantial enough to support the story.
• Environment variety. Each level of Superfuse is a different size and shape, but after playing for a while, I realized that the look and design of these environments felt the same. Superfuse could desperately do with some more variety, especially since exploring is one of its primary joys.
• Server issues. I was pretty disheartened when I discovered I couldn't play online or with other players in Superfuse. I live in Australia, and it seems all the servers supporting online gameplay were too far away. I wish I could’ve joined online matches, even if I had to face lag to do so.
• Progression. Character progression in Superfuse feels way too slow and tedious, and it takes ages to level up. I was hoping this would improve as I went, but if anything it got worse the deeper into the game I got. This is a major issue that I hope the developers will address as the game works through early access.
TapTap
• Fuses. Fuses are the titular mechanic in Superfuse, and they allowed me to upgrade my character’s abilities by gathering different components. Just one problem: I could only equip a certain number of upgrades based on my character’s level. Given the aforementioned slow leveling, this limitation soon became a major drag. Even after playing for five hours, I’d only upgraded one skill.
• Getting stuck. Sometimes my character got stuck between objects or enemies in Superfuse. This usually resulted in me dying to a horde of hungry creatures. Not ideal!
• No auto-loot system. For a game where I need to kill hundreds of monsters and pick up the loot that drops from them, the fact that there’s no auto-loot system is appalling.
TapTap
• Navigation. I like that I can pull up a plain map in the game that only lists areas I’ve visited, but I dislike that there’s no guidance on where I should be going. Superfuse provided me with plenty of places to visit but didn’t really explain how to get there.
• Inventory. The amount of times I’ve had to teleport back home and sell items to a vendor because my inventory would fill up is too many to count. I really hate how small the inventory is in Superfuse, and with every item being a different size, I sorely wished there was a way to expand it. Maybe there will be deeper into the game, but I was already dying for more storage just a few hours in!

wow, all the negatives sound like one big cry-fest. "My inventory is too small," "I don't level fast enough," "My tampon hurts." The game is solid. it has its bugs, but what new game doesn't? There is fun to be had... don't let complaints about a lack of QoL improvements discourage you from giving it a go. My biggest issue with the demo and early access was that it only had 2 levels, and I wanted to keep playing!

I think it's important to be transparent and honest with other gamers. These issues are valid and so is this opinion, just like yours or any other person. The inventory is pretty small if you're grinding the game for more than an hour. I needed to teleport back to the city every five minutes or less because I ran out of space. Leveling is a chore and really tedious. It shouldn't take me two to three hours to reach level ten. I was pulling mobs of fifty enemies too, each time and still leveled slowly. Of course, there's space to revisit Superfuse once it's gotten these things solved, but from a general overview, the game has a lot of issues to address before it's great. I look forward to its growth too!

What if comic-books and Diablo had a baby | Superfuse - Full Early Access Review
There are a lot of ARPGs out there already, but what makes Superfuse unique is its cell-shaded comic-book art-style. It’s not just cell shaded graphics, because even the effects and texts are comic-book inspired. This is something that even Marvel and DC games have failed to utilize and capitalize on, considering they are comic-book franchises. Superfuse combines cell-shaded comic-book art style, looter elements, with some action packed hack ’n slash mechanics.
